Squadron Types

Cadet Squadron

A Cadet Squadron focuses entirely on the Cadet Program part of Civil Air Patrol's mission.  Cadets train in areas of Leadership, Fitness, Aerospace, and Character.  The Senior Members in these Squadrons directly support Cadet activities.

Senior Squadron

A Senior Squadron does not have any assigned Cadets and focused on CAP's missions of Aerospace Education and Emergency Services.  Many members of Senior Squadrons are pilots or air crew and train on very specific task associated with those responsibilities.

Composite Squadron

A Composite Squadron has both Cadet and Senior Member programs.  Oftentimes, both types of members train side-by-side, but unique programs may exist for each as well.

School Squadron

A school squadron is a special type of Cadet squadron that is specifically affiliated with public or private school.  Cadets in these Squadrons may receive school credit for CAP participation and the CAP and school curriculums can be intertwined to a degree.
